During its more than eighty years of continuous operation, the University of Oklahoma Press has gained international recognition as an outstanding publisher of scholarly books. We were the first university press established in the Southwest, and the fourth west of the Mississippi. We currently publish more than 75 new books each year and have 1,400 active titles. Our mission supports the University of Oklahoma’s commitment to teaching, research, and service to the state and society.

Like most other university presses, we are a nonprofit organization that values research, scholarship, culture, education, and ideas over profits. We are funded by sales of our books and by modest support from the University and generous gifts from companies, foundations, and individuals. Your support will ensure that the University of Oklahoma Press continues to publish quality books in indigenous studies, the history of the American West, military history, art and photography, Latin American studies, classical studies, political science, and natural science, as well as books of interest to Oklahoma, the region, and the world. Important works such as Charles M. Russell: A Catalogue Raisonné and the Historical Atlas of Central America would have been impossible to undertake without the generosity of people like you.
