Join us in welcoming the family of the late Charles H. Red Corn, the author of ‘A Pipe for February.’ Originally published in 2002, Red Corn’s book is considered an essential piece of literature on the Reign of Terror, a period in American history when full-blood Osage were targeted and murdered for their land and wealth. The latest edition features a foreword by acclaimed director Martin Scorcese, who used ‘A Pipe for February’ as a reference when making his 2023 film ‘Killers of the Flower’ starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro, and Lily Gladstone.
Yancy Red Corn will open the event with remarks on his father’s life and the process of collecting Osage accounts to use in the book. From there, Scorcese’s foreword will be read in full along with select passages from ‘A Pipe for February.’ This event is free and open to the public. Snacks and refreshments will be provided.
