About the Series

Spanish exploration and settlement in the American Southwest and along the Pacific Coast long preceded that of the American intrusion from the East Coast. California, Arizona, New Mexico, and the surrounding areas bear evidence of their early impact that remains evident today, and is increasingly celebrated. This ongoing series, first developed by Hubert E. Bolton, contains the outstanding work of numerous scholars in the field.
