The Oklahoma Western Biographies

About the Series
Volumes in The Oklahoma Western Biographies provide brief, soundly researched, interpretive biographies of westerners. Because they are prepared by leading scholars, the biographies will appeal to specialists, but they are intended primarily for general readers and students. Above all, The Oklahoma Western Biographies aims at two goals: to provide thoroughly readable life stories of significant westerners and to show how these lives illuminate a notable topic, an influential movement, or a series of important events in the history and culture of the American West.
Richard Etulian, Series Editor
Richard Etulain is Professor of History Emeritus, University of New Mexico, and an award-winning author of many books, articles, and essays.
