The Popular West

About the Series

The Popular West series will explore a diverse array of popular representations of the American West, from film and television, to comic books and video games, to action figures and advertising. It will offer the premier venue for dissemination of new research on the Western in all its forms, energetically dispelling the notion that the Western was popular because it was simple. Works in the series will not be limited to academic monographs, and contributors are encouraged to submit innovative and original manuscripts and proposals that will enhance our understanding and reflect the vibrancy and complexity of the genre across the contemporary global media landscape.
