Acquisitions Editor for History, including Environmental History, African American History, Regional History, and Histories of Race, Ethnicity, and Culture in the North American West

I’m interested in acquiring smart, serious books on the history of North America that appeal to broad and diverse audiences, from scholarly studies and classroom texts, to regional, general interest subjects. For scholarly books, I’m looking for projects driven by clear arguments and well-developed structures that make meaningful connections between disciplines, literatures, and subfields. In all books, I look for compelling stories that make the past resonate in the present, with the potential to shape the future. I enjoy helping authors find those arguments and stories in their deep, original research.

I have bachelor’s degrees from Minnesota State University-Mankato in English (Creative Writing) and History, an M.A. in History from TCU, and a Ph.D. in History from the University of Oklahoma. My academic specialties are in environmental history, the history of the American West, and histories of race, masculinity, and labor. I started at OU Press in 2018 as an OU History Department Graduate Fellow.

Away from work, I enjoy active time with family and friends: ice hockey, Nordic and downhill skiing in cold months, swimming, hiking, biking, and skateboarding in the others.

I acquire for the following series:

Environmental History’s Futures series
Power Plays: The New Sports Studies series
Public Lands History
Before Gold: California Under Spain and Mexico
William F. Cody Series on the History and Culture of the American West
Race and Culture in the American West
Political Violence in America
